Designing a portfolio that feels both strategic and inspiring is no easy task. Tusaro Studio managed to achieve exactly that — creating a project that earned them recognition as a website design award winner. Their approach is defined by minimalism, functionality, and timeless aesthetics, resulting in a digital presence that not only impresses visually but also delivers long-term value.
Based in Graz, Austria, after more than 30 years in Switzerland, Tusaro Studio has built a reputation for crafting digital experiences with clarity and precision. Rather than following short-lived trends, the studio focuses on meaningful design that combines strategy with aesthetics. With more than a decade of experience in branding and web design, Tusaro creates portfolios and brand presences that are both distinctive and enduring.

The Interview with Sandro Tuce (Tusaro Studio) on Their Website Design Award
What inspired you to create this project?
The inspiration came from the combination of creativity and strategy. At Tusaro Studio, I believe design must do more than just look good – it should make brands tangible, capture attention, and convey a clear sense of purpose. Looking at our old portfolio, it became clear that the website no longer reflected our signature style. I wanted to create a digital experience that communicates content clearly and leaves a lasting impression.
What was your main goal when starting the design?
My goal was twofold: to create a clear and inspiring user experience that reflects our aesthetic and strategic identity, while also communicating Tusaro Studio’s core messages. The website had to function as both a portfolio and a strategic tool – for positioning, storytelling, and lead generation. Every interaction was designed to consciously convey the studio’s signature style.
How would you describe your design process?
Everything starts with analysis: Who are our users? What content do we want to communicate? How should our brand be positioned? Then comes the creative phase: wireframes, moodboards, animations, and interactions merge into a coherent whole. User guidance and visual clarity are central. I love when subtle microinteractions bring the brand’s personality to life – even small details can create a strong emotional connection.
Which tools or methods did you use?
The website was built with Framer, which allowed us to seamlessly integrate animations, microinteractions, and typography. I treated the project like a partner: every step was reflected upon, strategically reviewed, and aligned with our brand personality and aesthetic. It was exciting to see ideas from workshops and team discussions immediately come to life on the website.
What was your biggest UX challenge and how did you solve it?
The biggest challenge was combining creativity with strategic clarity. We wanted users to navigate intuitively without compromising the visual experience. Modular structures and finely tuned microanimations allowed us to present content step by step while maintaining a cohesive and visually engaging experience.
Which UI detail are you most proud of?
I’m particularly proud of the menu, buttons, and our custom cursor interaction. These elements merge aesthetics with user guidance and clearly convey Tusaro Studio’s identity. It’s fascinating to see how small touches can have a significant impact.
How did you bring creativity into the project?
Creativity for us means reduction rather than overload. Clear structures, expressive typography, and subtle accents attract attention, strengthen brand identity, and remain memorable. Every step was carefully tested and optimized to ensure a clear purpose – sometimes less truly is more, and that’s where the magic lies.
What was the most difficult technical aspect to implement?
Ensuring interactions were smooth, consistent, and performant across all devices was challenging. At the same time, they needed to support user guidance and reinforce our visual strategy. Small adjustments could have a major effect on the overall perception of the site.
How did you approach SEO and performance optimization?
SEO and performance were integral from the start. Every technical decision was made to improve visibility, loading speed, and create a seamless experience – even with complex animations. It’s impressive how technical precision and aesthetic quality can reinforce each other.
Looking back, is there anything you would do differently?
Often, a studio’s own website gets neglected due to time constraints. We approached it differently: strategy, branding, and web design were fully redeveloped, and every decision was carefully reflected upon. I’m proud that brand, strategy, aesthetics, and design now work harmoniously together.
